The IRS has released that the standard mileage rate will change for 2013, taking effect on January 1st. The new rate will be 56.5 cents per mile, up one cent from last year.
Nannies who drive their own car to transport children and take care of other work-related errands may be reimbursed at this rate. Mileage rates are based on annual fixed and variable automobile transportation costs such as gas, maintenance, and normal wear and tear on a car. Please note that a nanny’s commute to and from work are not eligible for reimbursement, just the miles traveled during work hours.
