2017 Family Helper of the Year

Norma Wagner
Norma began working as a nanny in 1999, when she immigrated to the U.S. from Brazil, where she was born and raised. Norma is married and has a twelve-year-old son who plays soccer. She loves attending his soccer games on the weekends, and in her free time she enjoys bike-riding and spending time with her family.
Norma’s current employer describes her as “invaluable, and my right-hand woman. My kids adore her and ask her to come on the weekends because they miss her. “
“There are not enough outstanding qualities to describe Norma. She always goes above and beyond what is asked of her. She gives more than 100% each day (and her days are long). She loves my children as if they were her own and she never misses a beat. She anticipates my children’s needs and proactively discusses ideas and concerns with our family. We would not know what to do without Norma! She has quickly become a cherished member of our family.”
“Norma speaks Portuguese and when my younger son was an infant last year, she began teaching him and speaking to him in Portuguese. He has quickly learned many key words.
“Norma juggles my children’s schedules proactively and takes it upon herself to reschedule or make changes for appointments if she feels the need, given how the day is going. She checks with me first, but takes the initiative in figuring out an alternative. Norma always has a good attitude and smile on her face.”
