2020 Family Helper of the Year
Mavette Singh
Mavette Singh was born and raised in Jamaica. As a young adolescent she had the opportunity to work with her aunt who was a daycare provider. Mavette found caring for children very intriguing and enjoyable. She loved engaging and teaching kids daily and found it extremely rewarding. Mavette took a course in early childhood education to enhance her knowledge in the field. As a young adult, she migrated to the U.S. and was eager to pursue work as a childcare provider.
Once in the U.S., Mavette immediately began working part time for several families and was subsequently offered a fulltime nanny position caring for a toddler. For the next 18 years, Mavette nurtured, cradled, prepared healthy meals, engaged in play, and provided outstanding care to the toddler, as well as the additional twins who were born three years later. She also provided overall management of the household while the busy parents pursued their careers.
Mavette is currently with an amazing family who has two awesome kids. She genuinely loves and enjoys working for them. Her energy level and attentiveness to the family is unwavering. She is completely devoted to her current employers and is happy to adjust her schedule to accommodate their needs. Mavette, like most nannies, found 2020 somewhat challenging because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, her professional experience and knowledge along with her assiduous work
ethic, have kept her focused on the safety and wellbeing of her Charges. The appreciation that her current employers show her is expressed to her repeatedly, and the smiles and big hugs from the children is extremely heartwarming.
Mrs. Z., Mavette’s current employer describes “Mave” as, “truly extraordinary.” “Mave brings joy, calmness, wisdom, energy, serenity, order and love to our home on a daily basis. Her selfless dedication to our children but also to our family is simply unreal! Other nannies seek out her advice all of the time.”
“She has a great degree of followership within our local community because of her unique talents and abilities. I thank God every day for her presence in our lives and her remarkable dedication. I know Mave is constantly supporting other nannies in our community with good advice, perspective and a listening ear.”
“She is loved so beyond our own family. She would do anything for the health and safety of our children. They are in such extraordinary care.”
“She always arrives early and is flexible to stay late if needed. She is loving and caring and everything she does is high quality!”
