If you’re looking for a fun fall activity to do with the children, try making homemade applesauce. In addition to being educational and fun to make, the kids will love tasting their own creation.
For four servings you’ll need:
4 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
Juice from one lemon
1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
1 T brown sugar
Have the children put the apples, lemon juice and water into the crock-pot. Then have them add the cinnamon, vanilla, and brown sugar. Turn the crock-pot on and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, until the apples are very tender. Mash the apples into sauce using a potato masher or large fork.
